Overview of Our Work in HIV Prevention, Testing, and Research Since 2008
Since 2008, our Society has been actively engaged in HIV prevention, testing, and research across Hong Kong. Our work encompasses:
- Laboratory testing support – collaborating with accredited laboratories to provide accurate HIV diagnostic services and quality assurance.
- HIV testing for the general public – offering confidential, accessible rapid HIV testing through community outreaches, our education centre, and partnerships with local clinics.
- Surveys on HIV/AIDS knowledge and behaviour among Hong Kong youth – monitoring trends and gaps in understanding.
- Research on infection risks and intervention effectiveness among high‑risk groups – evaluating outreach and peer programmes.
- Evaluations of sexuality education programme outcomes – assessing impact on knowledge and behaviour change.
- Studies on societal attitudes and stigma towards people living with HIV/AIDS – informing anti‑stigma campaigns.
We have published multiple research reports, providing an evidence‑based foundation for public health policies and educational initiatives.
Other Work Programmes
Youth Outreach Education
Deploying staff to high-risk venues such as parks, Lok Ma Chau bus stations, discos, and streets to provide on-site counselling and education.
School and Institutional Workshops
Conducting AIDS prevention talks and interactive workshops for primary and secondary schools, tertiary institutions, and churches.
Peer Education Programme
Training young people to become peer educators who promote safer sex practices in schools and the community.
Support Resources for Teachers and Social Workers
Providing teaching materials, training, and consultancy services to enhance the teaching capabilities of educators.
Drama and Arts Advocacy
Fostering social dialogue and reflection through performances and creative works.
